July belongs to Jupiter, and this month, the giant (88,846 mile diameter) planet gets as close as it can for the year - 386.8 million miles on July 9th. It is a wonder through the telescope when the atmosphere is steady, showing clouds belts, its orangish-tan Great Red Spot, and its 4 Galilean moons.

HAHA it's the brightest star.
